How the markup is calculated

The sell price is the base price plus your markup. With a percent markup, the markup is the base price multiplied by the percent and divided by 100. With a fixed markup, it is the same amount on every booking.

Markup and margin are not the same number. Markup is measured against the base price. Margin is the markup measured against the sell price, so a margin is always smaller than the markup percent that produced it.

A percent markup grows with the price of the booking, while a fixed markup stays the same on a short flight and on a long one. Many sellers pick one rule per product and check it against what their customers expect to pay.
